Media
Media for Us, By Us
We reclaim the narrative and promote change through impactful media. Research conducted by the Heinz Endowments found that only 8.9% of front-page news focused on Black men and boys, with 86% of TV stories about them focusing on crime and less than 3% focused on quality-of-life stories. The interpretation and creation of media exists across our programs, as we recognize the power of communicating the lived experience of Black people and youth as a tool for change. As Black media creators in the space, we host the successful podcasts This Week in White Supremacy and Brunch with a Black Man and curate our news platform, Black Pittsburgh.

brunch with a black man
Brunch with a Black Man is a mental health podcast focused on telling stories of Black men. Black people are 20% more likely to suffer from severe psychological stress than their white counterparts. Even more daunting, Black men are four times more likely to die by suicide than their female counterparts.
The podcast provides a safe space to directly address the topic through the shared stories of prominent Black men in the community.
