creating a
truly reflective democracy

1Hood mobilizes unlikely voters and strengthens local and statewide civic participation across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We build voter outreach in Pittsburgh and across justice-impacted communities, expand voter registration and participation, and use art and culture to deepen understanding of voting rights, elections, budgeting, and community investment, advancing a more reflective and inclusive democracy through coalition-based organizing.

P3: People, Politics, & Power

People, Politics, & Power (P3) is a civic engagement and political education initiative created by 1Hood Media to educate, activate, and empower communities through culture, conversation, and collective action. Through pop-up parties, panel conversations, and workshops, P3 connects politics to the everyday issues impacting our communities, making civic engagement accessible, community-centered, and rooted in movement building.

The Queer Quarterly

The Queer Quarterly is a recurring civic engagement and community-building series that convenes LGBTQIA+ community members, particularly Black, trans, gender-expansive, and POC folx, to examine how local, regional, and national political decisions impact their daily lives. With past themes including book bans, surviving academia, National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness, and police relations and response, Queer Quarterly creates space for political education, cultural expression, and community care through a queer lens.
